The healthcare industry continues to evolve with the implementation of smart technology. Every year companies discover more use cases, and the advancement of smart healthcare will only keep progressing. In a recent webinar, Advancing Smart Healthcare from Vision into Reality, we dug into the topic of smart healthcare and how that is turning from a vision into reality.

Automation is the Future of Smart Healthcare

One of the topics we covered during the webinar was automation. In a hospital, the ability to automate tasks or processes can be an extreme help to patients and staff. Automating records helps staff use information as soon as it is created. Another form of automation can be found when hospitals track their assets. With asset tracking, staff can reduce the time spent looking for lost or idle equipment and focus on patient care instead. Asset tracking solutions can also provide additional features such as alerting staff when preventative maintenance is required on their high-value equipment which helps reduce any compliance issues as well.

RTLS as part of Smart Hospitals

Another topic that our experts covered during the webinar was RTLS as part of smart hospitals. As mentioned earlier, we are finding more use cases for the technology in hospitals, and we will see more of it in the future. Smart hospitals are giving us a preview of what a hospital will look like in the coming years. One way we'll be seeing that is through room history records. Hospitals are looking into implementing technology in their rooms that can identify which equipment has been used in the room and also identify which doctors and caregivers have provided care in those rooms.

The main goal of smart hospitals is to provide patients with a better experience in the hospital. Although it is always fascinating to have the latest technology, that priority should not be forgotten. Having technology that can help staff focus on patient care can also give patients the ease of mind that they went to the right place. All that to say, the future is looking very comforting in hospitals and the healthcare industry as a whole.
